Taking Stock

At this point in my life I realize that I have left quite a few things disappear because I just didn't take the time to keep them going, things I enjoy doing - things that are good for me - priorities that keep me happy.
Family .. Church .. Work .. get in the way and you don't realize that things you enjoy are now in the bottom of the "In" box.
Don't get me wrong -- I love my family, I love my faith, and well work helps to pay the bills....
However,  I need to get back to a healthier Me... I need to get back to cooking things I enjoy - not just things my family will eat .. I need to get back to sending out cards to friends and family - it is my way of letting them know they are important in my life.

First things first.... Healthy
I go to Curves 5 days a week and not only has this made my mind and body feel better, but I have made some great friends.
I have committed to running a half-marathon, 20 years after my first half-marathon.  It will be a tight training schedule since I can barely run a mile, but I'm willing to give it my best shot.  I remember running as a good time for me to zone into me... and plan my day, talk to my maker, and work out all those things that cloud my mind and bring me down.
I joined Weight Watchers as a way to help me retrain myself to the right way to eat.  To help me take control back so that food is not running my life.  I admit that I am addicted to eating .. I eat when I'm bored, when I'm happy, when I'm sad, when - well heck always.....
Next.... Cooking what I like
I like to experiment - to try new things - make up my own recipe.  I have started my own recipe collection and will try them on my family... I will only have time to do this on the weekend, but who knows where it will lead... maybe my own cookbook :)
Next... Keeping in contact with those I love
I haven't started this yet... I plan to put birthdays and anniversaries in a calendar that I see often and the most important thing... to have cards already made or purchased for all occasions so that all I have to do it pick them up - and mail them... sounds easy, but I know it will take time to make the cards and to get everything organized.
Next....Keeping my memories organized..  I want to start a family scrapbook on my computer.  All in good time - so many things to get back to.

Wonderful! You do have so many talents and interests - it is too bad life sometimes gets in the way of the fun stuff and worth while stuff you would rather be doing. These sound like some very worth-while goals. I especially like the one about running a half marathon! Yay for you! I know you can do it. I can't wait to see you cross that finish line.

Getting cards ready to go for the whole year has always been a goal of mine... one I've never actually done. I appreciate it so much when other people remember to send me a card. I want to do the same for the people I care about.

And I'll buy that cookbook as soon as you write it!
